  • Female Judges: Rich and silky texture Plum flavors mix with bright and fresh juicy cherries accented by leather notes. Great density and weight on the palate. 91 – Gold
  • Male Judges: Blackberry and oak aromas open to black cherry, tart blackberry and black raspberry flavors that are accented beautifully with the oak treatment. Nice wine! 90 – Gold

Gold & Silver Medals – 10th Pinot Noir Shootout

2006 Pinot Noir, R. Buoncristiani Vineyard, Russian River Valley

  • Female Judges: Beautiful garnet at the core fading to a pale garnet rim. Caramelized fruit aromas – cranberry, cherries, and orange peel. The nose is reminiscent of a fortified wine. The palate is even more demonstrative. Simmering orange peel, cranberry, potpourri, lavender, and underneath it all, some leather. There is a suggestion here of sherry notes. “What fun!” 90 – Gold
  • Male Judges: Light in color. Dried cherry and sandalwood aromas deliver dried cherry flavors at the core surrounded with oak elements. The finish is good and long. “Obviously a wine with some age but it’s still holding up well. It’s delicious!” 90 – Gold

2007 Pinot Noir, R. Buoncristiani Vineyard, Russian River Valley

  • Female Judges: Perfume of violets, rose, and lavender arise from the glass. Soft and fresh. Creamy mouth feel. Nice acid balance. 89 – Silver
  • Male Judges: In the glass, the wine is ruby in color with an orange rim and a light center. Confectionery sugar, cherry, strawberry, and soft herbs and spices on the nose. Nice balance. Elegant strawberry and clove flavors. Smooth and viscous with an airy middle that moves into a balanced and smooth finish. 89 – Silver

2008 Pinot Noir, R. Buoncristiani Vineyard, Russian River Valley

  • Female Judges: Black cherry, mushrooms, and toasted walnuts on the nose. Intense in the mouth. Dark cherries on opening turning to sour cherries mid. There is a unique maple fudge quality that shows through the oak on the finish. Well built. 89 – Silver
  • Male Judges: The nose is tight, opening on aeration to reveal mushrooms, blackberries and leather. The palate is expansive and vibrant showing red and black fruit with minor notes of spices. The tannins are well integrated. cherry. Well made. 90 – Gold
